What's the best thing about planning a wedding in St Ives?
St Ives is a stunning town on the Cornish coastline which is boasts several beaches and narrow cobbled streets that open out onto a sweeping harbour that is bursting with seaside charm. From the weathered stone to the details that accent every lane, the town is a picturesque backdrop no matter the weather. What makes it so special for me, is all of the above is right on your doorstep regardless of what wedding venue you book, and this shouldn't be overlooked.
Between the town, headland and surrounding coastline there is endless opportunities for photos whether it's an intimate hand fastening, a local wedding or a large celebration with family and friends travelling across the UK. You can embrace the coastal landscape and make it feel like there's no-one else in the world or wander the maze of side streets to celebrate the rustic ambience of the town. Forget posed photos. There's an arcade on the harbour, you can get a cone of chips with your bridal party or ditch your heels and run into the sea. And all of this is within a 10 minute walk!
St Nicholas Chapel and sensational summer photos!
I had the pleasure of joining Alicia and Stuart, and their close family, to capture a hand fastening ceremony at St Nicholas Chapel. The weather was incredible and St Ives was, characteristically, alive with the hustle and bustle of summer.
Having been to St Ives numerous times and walked around the headland this was my first time seeing inside St Nicholas Chapel. It's a simple yet beautiful stone building with magnificent views across the bay and town. It has small windows, is adorned with just a few wooden benches and tables but also boasts the best car parking spot in the whole of St Ives, as you can park in the field outside.
The Vicar was wonderful and the ceremony was quaint and simple much like the chapel itself yet the closeness of the space really celebrated the togetherness of everyone attending. There was toasts outside before we headed down the hill. Where Alicia and Stuart have been coming to St Ives for years meant we knew exactly where we wanted to go. For me, this included making the most of the harbour at low tide.
